In recent years, countries have increased their control over PFAS, which has put great pressure on the automotive industry. All products entering the international market are required to pass PFAS testing and safety certification. In order to help enterprises efficiently cope with compliance challenges, Zhejiang ATTC Chemical Laboratory officially launched the PFAS testing project to escort your products with authoritative testing services!
Background: Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are a large family of organic substances synthesized by humans, which can cause potential harm to the ecological environment and human health due to their persistence, ecotoxicity and human health hazards.
The current comparison of PFAS control regulations in various countries is as follows:
China, Japan, Australia, New Zealand: Basically the same as the control requirements of the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants.
Canada: Control requirements are slightly ahead of the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants.
EU: The control is the strictest, and the control methods are more diverse.
United States: The control idea is slightly different, and PFAS-related information is currently being collected at the federal level.

The main uses of PFAS in the automotive industry include semiconductor manufacturing, lithium-ion batteries, metal plating, safety devices such as airbags, friction materials such as brake pads, wheel weight fixing tapes, piping systems, Teflon membranes in auto parts, textiles, lubricants, heat-resistant wiring harnesses and electronic products. Classification and sorting out PFAS control substances in the automotive industry It was found that there are 201 kinds of more than 4,000 PFAS in automotive products, of which polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) is the most common: 28 kinds of PFOS/PFOA/PFHxS substances are found in more than 500 kinds of PFOS/PFOA/PFHxS substances, of which perfluorooctanoic acid is the most common; among more than 200 kinds of LC-PFCAs substances, 20 kinds of automotive products are included. The high-risk materials for PFAS in the automotive industry were sorted out, and it was found that the material categories that used PFAS more in the automotive industry were thermoplastics, rubber, etc., among which PC, PET, PBT, POM, PESPPS, LCP, PA, and lubricants were preliminarily listed as high-risk materials: the material categories that used more PFOS/PFOA/PFHxS substances were thermoplastics, thermosets, etc.
Zhejiang ATTC Chemical Laboratory has leading testing technology and equipment in China, focusing on the testing of automotive interior parts and parts. Through scientific and rigorous testing processes, including but not limited to EU POPs regulations, China's "List of Key New Pollutants", PFAS other control regulations, etc.
In the face of increasingly stringent environmental protection requirements and consumers' high demand for healthy car life, Zhejiang ATTC Chemical Laboratory is not only a testing service provider, but also an important health guardian in the automotive industry chain. We adhere to the principles of scientific, fair and accurate service, and work closely with automobile manufacturers to jointly promote the green development of the automotive industry.
